Nagios – scripting VMware

New challenge – implement Nagios in an Enterprise layout

Monitor VMware:

– coverage with OP5 perl plugin for Host/VM/VC
– missing VMware objects (VM diskspace – vCenter services – HA/DRS status –  powered off VMs – VMtool status – VM snapshot status)
– missing Windows objects ( service state… – which u cover via powershell scripts)

Beauty with this setup – you monitor the entire VMware environment almost agentless – so no need to install any agent on the VMs – just on the proxy and good idea to install on the vCenter server as well.

Missing objects can be covered by powercli scripts, which are triggered from the Nagios server to be run on a Windows proxy. Have in mind to enable external arguments (allow_arguments).

All scripts can be found in the internet – if u need some more advice or a bit of consulting – contact me for a quote
