VMware – VADP backup fail when using hotadd

Issue: VADP backups fail when using hotadd.
Error Message: Windows eventvwr on VADP proxy – System / partmgr EventID: 58 – „The disk signature of disk x is equal to the disk signature of disk x“ – possible VADP proxy will bluescreen
Resolution: check VM disk ID with diskpart – change Disk ID via dumpcfg(x64).exe – (reboot the box – check if BCD / Bootmgr is ok – if not – recovery console -> bootrec /RebuildBcd – see KB927391)
Reason: Cloned VMs will have same diskID -> no problem, as long as u do not mount the disks on the same VM – but hotadd mounts all this disks on the VADP proxy – known issue in VDDK 1.2
